Song of the Day: At the Beginning

It's Sunday! How have your weekend been?? I had 9 hours sleep after the busy week with the project in counselling unit, MPPC TalentCorp bootcamp and SEC Hons. Thus, just a simple post for today to share a song that accompany me throughout my study and exam week. At the beginning....

We were strangers starting out on a journey
Never dreaming what we'd have to go through
Now here we are and I'm suddenly standing
At the beginning with you

No one told me I was going to find you
Unexpected, what you did to my heart
When I lost hope, you were there to remind me
This is the start

And life is a road and I want to keep going
Love is a river, I want to keep flowing
Life is a road, now and forever
Wonderful journey

I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
At the end I want to be standing
At the beginning with you

We were strangers on a crazy adventure
Never dreaming how our dreams would come true
Now here we stand unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you

And life is a road, and I want to keep going
Love is a river, I want to keep flowing
Life is a road, now and forever
Wonderful journey

I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
At the end I want to be standing
At the beginning with you

Knew there was somebody somewhere
Like me, alone in the dark
Now I know my dream will live on
I've been waiting so long
Nothing's gonna tear us apart

And life is a road and I want to keep going
Love is a river, I want to keep flowing
Life is a road, now and forever
Wonderful journey

I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
In the end I want to be standing
At the beginning with you

And life is a road and I want to keep going
Love is a river, I want to keep going on
Starting out on a journey

Life is a road and I want to keep going
Love is a river I want to keep flowing
In the end I want to be standing
At the beginning with you

1st Post of the Year?? Confession??

Hey guys, great year ahead~~ This is my first post of the year, hmm.... what should I post about?? Wanted to post something on the resolution of the year but that might sounds a little boring to you. Thus, I'm changing my topic today and talk about CONFESSION. (Oppsss... The title is kinda misleading, I'm not trying to make a confession here, but to empower your confession. xP)

I think my 2014 started off great as I received 2 wonderful news from 2 of my babes. Both of them had finally got into a relationship. These 2 couples knew each other through the same events I attended. I was damn happy for them. Happy to hear their love story. I shall keep their identity anonymous.

How would I relate this to my topic today?? Confession plays an extreme role in any relationship. Whenever both parties are ready, it's the confession that kick start a relationship. So, how to ensure the success of a confession. (I'm assuming that it's the guy who made the confession, economists like assumptions. =P)

1)  Make sure he/she has the same feeling towards you.

How would you know a person feels the same as you? Both of you can go out for a date (this term may sounds kinda heavy, 'hangout' would be better word perhaps) and the feeling explains everything. For the guys, take the initiatives and ask the girl out, if she's willing to catch a meal or a movie with you, this is a good start.

For the guy, did you...
  • feel like holding her hand when she was sitting right beside you?
  • wish to make her laugh/smile?
  • try to protect her? (from the crowd or when crossing the road)
  • feel like dating her for the next time?

For the girl, did you...
  • hope that he could hold your hand?
  • just stared at him and said nothing?
  • aware of every single details of him?
  • always get the flashback of you and him after the date/meet up?

2)  Choose a date which is significant for both of you.

The date of your confession would be another significant date for both of you. Thus, choose it wisely!! You can choose a date/day which is easier to remember and have significant meaning for both of you. For instance, the date where both of you first met. This could be explained economically as well because you can save the cost for another anniversary celebration with the 2-in-1 package.

3)  Surprise and handmade gift/card can make a difference.

Do not just plainly tell her that, "I like you, can you be my girlfriend?" Undeniably, this is a powerful sentence but it would be more 'impactful' if you could prepare something special for her. It is not about getting her an expansive gift but it is the value of the gift. Please be aware that price=value. Let's make it sounds a bit more like an economist. According to Jevons and Mengers, the value of a good is not determined by the price of the factor of production whereas it is the utility of the consumer that decide the value of that good.

Let's get back to the gift part, you can prepare a simple card or letter for her. This is vary according to her character. Something handmade could show some sincerity of you and your love for her. It's not just about the gift, make sure you plan ahead. Procrastination can lead to sloppiness. You wouldn't wanna ruin the date. Make sure you have an 'agenda'/flow to build up the atmosphere and give it a hit at the right moment.

Remember this 1.2.3 and hope that this could help you on your confession. Best of luck for it. Hwaiting!!! Comment on this post and let us know more on how did your confession goes. =)

Countdown 1314

It has been a long time since my last update. Again...

This is the 14th week and also the last week for the classes and the tutorials. This indicates that study week and exam is approaching!! OMG~~ After my SPM, it's rarely for me to celebrate Christmas and New Year eve. For the past 2 years, my friends did ask me out to celebrate it together but I turned them down as I wished to focus in my study. However, I ended up doing something unproductive in the room yet I think it is better than spending time outside. How about this year??

Now, let's talk about the countdown this year. Everyone is so excited about it because the countdown of new year 2014 in mandarin would be 1314跨年 means that the person who countdown with you will love you forever. [201314 = 爱你一生一世] Although this is just a myth and may not be true or can be said as another marketing strategy, yet it is still sounds romantic isn't it?

Has anyone in mind you want to date with? Confession? Proposal? Just do it. This special date only happen once in a million years, do not miss the opportunity!

This is my last countdown in uni life, I shall plan something out on that day. =)

The extension thinking...

My previous post makes me think a lot. Here is another interesting question that I would like to bring out.

Do you choose your partner based on the criteria set or the 'so-called' feeling?

Everyone has their benchmark and basic "requirements" set in their mind on how they would like their partner (boyfriend/girlfriend) to be. For example:
  • must be taller than you
  • caring
  • bright future
  • hardworking
  • taking different course from you
  • come from the same state and etc...
I believe you have at least one that pop up in your mind now. So, do you fall in love with someone because he/she fulfil the criteria set? This is what we called conditional love relationship.

Love is blind or rational? I think most of you would say love is blind, but if you try to look at the root cause, don't you get attracted by him/her at first is because he is the one that you have set in mind. Only then it's been developed into the love relationship and you started to be in the stage of 'love is blind'.

On the other hand, if you say that love is based on the 'so-called' feeling, how would you identify and confirm that? Your mind get blank when you see him/her? or your heart beats will just get faster and you couldn't breath well? All these characteristics or symptoms are what we learnt through the movie or drama, but does that really occur in real life. In fact, it's not. It may be true few years back but as people started to know more about this, the true feeling may not be true. Sounds confusing? Let me show you another clearer example. When psychologist reveals that those people who always hold their arm in front of them indicates that they are very protective and as more and more people starts to realize this fact, they will start to control themselves from doing it. This ends up that those people who are protective about themselves may not always hold their arm in front of them. Get the idea of it? Now, let's apply this back to the previous situation. When we started to realize the fact that if you have fall in love with him/her, your heart beats will get faster when meeting up with him/her then subconsciously you'll make your hear beats get faster although you do not know if you like him/her or not. It's just because that you think you should have those symptoms. So now, how could you really know that the 'so-called' feeling is true?? I do not know, this is what I'm trying to search for recently.

In contrast, do you think feeling is the one could drive both of you to be together forever? Feeling is very subjective and abstract. If it can come at a moment, it may leave at the next moment. It's all happen within that MOMENT! Pak~~ Here it is. And Pak~~ There it goes~~

Furthermore, when I see my friends start to get into a relationship and all the sweet moments they have, I am happy for them to find their love one. In the relationship, promise made and some of them end up separated. Within a year, they get into a new relationship again with another girl/guy. I know the fact that they should move on and not to stay at the same location. However, what trigger me is how could they recover so fast? (although a year may not be short) Some commented that they do not forget what happen in the past relationship just they they lock it in a corner of their hearts. Still, if you do not fully forget about that person then do you think it's fair for your current partner?

I know this post consists of a lotss of question but the gist of this post is to make you think! Who is the one that you really want (or LOVE perhaps)? Is it really based on criteria or feeling?? How could you get over it? All this feeling and curiosity of mine may due to my zero experience on this.

Mate Selection

What a interesting topic I have today. =)

I am now working on an assignment (Sampling Survey) and the topic given is "Survey on the Perception of University Students on Marriage and Criteria for Mate Selection". This is what inspired me to blog on this topic.

When I was filling in the questionnaire, there is this part of question where a list of criteria is listed and we need to rank the important level for each of the criteria. This struck me a lot. What type of person that I am looking for to be my boyfriend, my soul-mate and of course my husband? Who is the ideal man that I wish to spend half of my life with?

Among the criteria listed, I selected

  • reliable
  • good character
  • sincere
  • honest
  • fun/loving

All these criteria I believe is quite common for everyone. Furthermore, good cook and housekeeper is VERY VERY important as well. >< Although I like to cook but not many can accept the dishes I cook, because I prefer a lot of spices and all-in-one. =P

However, is all these really important?
Love is blind!!!
Sounds so cliché. ><
